I don't write as often as I'd like to, but I'm working hard to fix that! Here are several attempts to do said fixing, with varying degrees of success. As it says in the disclaimer, I do not own Pokémon or anything else I don't own, but all stories and other characters, concepts, etc. are mine. If you want to share these stories with someone, e.g. via Tumblr, then I'd appreciate you just linking to the story rather than c/ping it wherever; if you really must do that for some strange reason, please give me credit as the original author. (Also see this section of the About AO page.)

If you're interested in interactive fiction/text adventures, you can also check out my Interactive Fanfiction.

The fanfics are grouped into chaptered stories, one-shots and other short pieces, and any special projects. Newer pieces are generally up top within each section. The title, genre, rating and approximate length of each story is provided below, as well as a one- or two-sentence synopsis or teaser and/or other notes about the piece.

A drabble project primarily started to get me writing at least a little bit every day (ideally), pokédex mini will eventually include one drabble per Pokémon. The drabbles are organized into groups of fifty by National Dex number; when I post a new batch, I'll edit them all into their respective sections.

One-Shots and Flash Fiction

Short stories that can be read in just one sitting, including flash fiction and miscellaneous drabbles.

It is Mewtwo. It is strong. It is stronger. A story of flight, freedom, and being certain of your place in the world. Whether the world wants you there or not.

(It does not.)

This was written for the Kanto one-shot contest over on Serebii Forums back in 2018, and managed to grab second place—not bad! The version posted here has been revised from the original entry version, with many thanks to the contest judges for their helpful comments. It's not an especially cheerful piece, just as a heads-up.

Breadcrumb Trail

Papa told Ruri that she'd get lost, that the ley lines in the forest were shifting and mistfolk might be waiting to snatch pokémon who wander too long, but Ruri is far too clever for that. "Getting lost" just means not knowing how to find her way home; all she has to do, then, is make sure that she knows. The mistfolk can't catch her if she doesn't linger, and she can't linger if she isn't lost.

I've been toying with some ideas for a PMD-like setting that takes inspiration from the realm of the fairies (not Fairy-types but the fae), and so I decided to use a writing prompt challenge to play around with some ideas for said setting. The challenge was really mostly intended for drabbles and flash fiction, but this one turned out about ten times longer than that, haha. (Still short and sweet, though!) The misadventures very good and smart decisions of Ruri the Marill were not intended to be a major focus of the setting, but even as I attempt to shift gears to really solidifying the world and working on larger projects, I imagine I'll end up revisiting our clever little girl again in the future.

Some fine flash fics featuring fey friends.

I've been toying with some ideas for a PMD-like setting that takes inspiration from the realm of the fae, and so I decided to use a writing prompt challenge to play around with some ideas for said setting. Here are some of the little pieces that resulted! I'm not sure if they'll ever come to anything bigger as I work on the overall setting, but they were fun excuses to see how mischievous and mysterious I could get. And who knows? I may add more tiny fairy stories to this collection in the future. (The fic above this, "Breadcrumb Trail", was also written for the same prompt set and can be found in the same forum thread if you choose to read on Thousand Roads.)

He wished Mom had given him the book a little sooner. He'd have had more time to study and take it all in. There was just so much to learn!

A quick piece written for Pokémon Day 2016, the Pokémon series' 20th anniversary. I really do still have some of my old "trainer's guide" RBY instruction booklets lying around, heh.

Morph Revenge II is Blue's favorite game.

This was originally meant to be a flashback scene in a planned chapterfic, but I decided not to use any flashbacks and so this came to stand on its own. (And then the original chapterfic morphed into something entirely different anyway.) It picked up a few prizes in Serebii's 2013 Fanfiction Awards, which was a pleasant surprise.

All it ever does is frown, and heck if he knows how to cheer it up.

One of the chief early complaints about the fifth-generation water starter, oshawott, went along the lines of "it would've been so much cuter if it wasn't frowning like that". I think it's adorable just the way it is and have no problem with its apparent "frown", but who am I to pass up the chance for a bit of fun with the idea?

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood...

This one comes to you courtesy of an "Advent Calendar" writing prompt from ole_schooler of the Studio-Revolution BBS. It was the only prompt I actually finished, but that's one better than I was originally anticipating! The prompt was "Two roads led into a yellow wood; she chose the psychopath". I'm still not entirely sure how it ended up being about a torkoal.

A few minutes from now you’re going to tell me that you’re leaving me here, and I just want you to know...

I wrote this surprisingly quickly while in a good mood after writing some flash fiction for an English class (fiction always comes more easily when I'm being forced to write it, bah). I suppose I should also credit the English class for the subject matter—we were reading the graphic novel Watchmen for an assignment, and the concept behind this was inspired by a character in said graphic novel. It just seemed to fit natu so well, you know?

Outrage

Rating/Warnings: PG-13/T. Contains a lot of explicit language, verbal abuse, and implied physical abuse.

She wakes up to a world of rosy mist and perfect calm. She’s never been less angry in her life.

This is another one of those stories I didn't quite know how to pull off properly, but I do like it a lot. Enjoy! (For, uh, some value of "enjoy", given the content.)

What Would You Do, Luther Sellig?

He'll never be good enough, and he can only dream that Luther might ever understand.

Old and embarrassing, but I keep it around because at the time it was the first sizeable bit of actual writing I'd finished in a long while.

Untitled Cyrus Flashfic

A teeny-tiny one-shot I did for a meme on a forum. Might be a bit hard to follow if you haven't seen a certain sign in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.

Ficbits (various unfinished stories)

Occasionally I take bits and bobs of my WIPs, some current and some ancient, and post them to my blog with the "ficbits" tag. These ficbits vary in genre, length, fandom and more, and multiple categories may be included in a single post. In general, though, any important information (warnings, etc.) about any of these should be mentioned somewhere in the beginning of the ficbit's respective post.
